Observation of the surrounding world becomes the starting point for new images. Inspiration comes from unusual structures, lines, dots, patterns and natural forms, and from people: their movement, emotions and inner state. Familiar images can stay recognisable yet take on a different depth through changes in form, in detail and in the way they interact.

I notice unusual forms in the everyday and try to look deeper than the ordinary image. A form can turn into a pattern, a pattern into a creature, and a single detail into a whole world.

The fantastic grows out of the transformation of the real. Real images become the starting point for fantastic creatures, organic compositions, ornaments and new visual forms. Reality does not disappear: it lives on inside the image, merging with imagination.

At the heart of this way of seeing lies fractality: the idea that forms are interconnected, that the small is linked to the large, and that a single element can be part of a more complex structure. Fractal principles can be observed in nature, in its organic forms and the ways it grows.
